Do I need to purchase any equipment?
No. All test kits are complete and ready to use—there is no equipment to purchase and no financial commitment required.
How are breath samples returned to the lab?
Each kit includes a prepaid, preaddressed mailer. After collection, simply seal the box and drop it in any U.S. mailbox.
Are results reliable?
Yes. All assays have been validated to Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) guidelines.
Can I use the kits in-office or send them home with patients?
Either option works. Kits can be administered in your office by staff or sent home with patients for self-collection following the included instructions.
Do you measure both hydrogen and methane gases?
Yes. All hydrogen breath tests measure hydrogen and methane gases, with CO₂ included as a quality control indicator.
What is the accuracy of the urea breath test for H. pylori?
The ¹³C-urea breath test has approximately 95% sensitivity and specificity for detecting active H. pylori infection. The average accuracy of hydrogen breath tests is 85%.
Are the breath samples stable and for how long?
Yes, we have demonstrated stability up to 21 days in our collection device.
Can children be tested?
Yes, children can be tested if they are able to follow simple breath collection instructions. For those under 50 pounds, a modified dose is included in the kit instructions.
Can you bill insurance?
For practices that qualify, we can supply kits at no charge and bill insurance directly. For other arrangements, we provide receipts for patient reimbursement.
Are results confidential?
Yes. All results and patient data are handled in compliance with HIPAA standards. Only the ordering provider and patient receive results.
Can multiple tests be done in one day?
No. Only one test per day should be performed. However, patients may complete multiple tests on consecutive days if fasting and dietary requirements are followed.
