How accurate are the test results?

Gut-Chek tests are identical to hydrogen breath tests that are in use in leading medical centers throughout the world. The hydrogen breath test is well documented in the scientific literature with a reported average accuracy of 85%. The Leaky Gut Syndrome Breath Test is a proprietary product developed through more than 20 years of medical research conducted for the pharmaceutical industry by our medical research division.

Are the results confidential?

Yes. We always maintain strict confidentiality regarding your lab results and personal information. No one else but you will receive the results.

Can I speak with someone about Gut-Chek?

What are the laboratory credentials?

We are a CLIA certified facility licensed in all 50 states. View our licenses.

Can children take a Gut-Chek test?

Yes, children can take the test provided they are capable of following a guardian’s instructions to blow through a straw on command. If the child weights less than 50 pounds you will need to taper the dose following the guidelines provided in the kit.

Do you accept other forms of payment besides credit cards?

Yes. We also accept prepaid VISA and Mastercard cards and debit cards. If you choose to send a check or money order be sure to include your name, mailing address, telephone number, email address and the type of test(s) you would like to receive. Send to:

Do you need a Paypal account?

No, you can elect to use your own credit card.

Can I place my order by telephone?

Yes, you can place an order by calling 866-302-1998 Monday – Friday from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm EST.

What if I live outside of the United States?

We will ship kits to any country; however, you do not qualify for free shipping. We ship the kit using the most economical United Parcel Service option and add the cost to your credit card. In addition, there may be duty fees and import taxes assessed to your shipment. Please email us at [email protected] to discuss the order.

How long will it take to receive my kit?

All kits are shipped by USPS Priority mail and should arrive at your home within 1-3 days of placing an order.

How do I prepare for the test?

It is important to follow the test preparation instructions that include avoiding certain foods and fasting overnight. Please review the detailed test preparation sections for each test.

What foods should I avoid?

Avoid these foods: Beans, whole wheat pasta, all fruits, fiber or bran cereals, tofu, nuts, wheat and rye breads and high fiber foods (whole grains).

Will I experience any discomfort from the test?

Most people have no adverse reaction to the testing. It is possible you might experience nausea or temporary diarrhea.

Where is the breath test performed?

All tests are performed in your home at your convenience.

Do you measure both hydrogen and methane gases for the hydrogen breath test?

Yes, we measure both hydrogen and methane gas for each test.

How long does it take to do a test?

How do I know that I did the test correctly?

We check each breath sample for the level of CO2 to confirm proper collection. The process of providing a breath sample is very simple and we rarely have a failure.

Do I have to stop my medications?

Some medications can potentially affect the test. List of these medications are found within the test preparation section of each test. WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU DO NOT DISCONTINUE ANY MEDICATIONS WITHOUT APPROVAL FROM A HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONAL.

Can I take more than one test on the same day?

No. You can take only one test per day. However, you can take tests on up to 4 consecutive days provided you continue to follow the fasting and dietary requirements.

Will you file insurance claims for me?

No, but we will provide a receipt of payment for insurance submission.

How are samples returned to the laboratory for testing?

Your test kit box is also a prepaid mailer to return breath samples to the lab. Simply seal the box using the tape found in the kit and drop in any United States Postal Service (USPS) mailbox.

How long can I wait before sending the breath specimens back to your lab?

For optimal results, it is recommended that breath specimens be mailed within 14 days of completing the test.

When and how will I get my results?

Results will be emailed or sent by regular mail to you within 24 hours of receipt of breath samples.

What do my results mean?

Your results will include a complete explanation and suggestions on what to do next.

Why hasn’t my kit arrived?

Gut-Chek test kits are shipped by United States Postal Service to you. It may take up to 7 days to receive your kit. If you have waited 7 days and you still don’t have the package:

• See if someone else accepted delivery. Check with household members, neighbors, building managers, the mailroom, front desk, and anyone else who may have accepted the delivery.
• Look around the delivery location. Sometimes drivers leave packages in a safe, hidden place like on a side porch, in/around your garage, or behind bushes.
• Look for a notice of attempted delivery. You may find an attempted delivery notice in your mailbox or P.O. Box or on your door. Follow the instructions on that notice to request re-delivery or pick up the package.

Can I return a kit?

Yes, and you will receive a full refund. No questions asked. If you decide that you no longer want to take the test and wish to receive a refund, do not open the kit. Only kits that have not been opened are eligible for a refund. Please return the kit to: Metabolic Solutions, 460 Amherst Street, Suite 5, Nashua, NH 03063. Include your complete name, address and telephone. We will credit your credit card account for the cost of the kit.
