Solutions for Physicians
Metabolic Solutions is a CLIA certified
clinical laboratory licensed to provide laboratory services
in all 50 states. We offer kits and analysis for the
Urea Breath Test to detect Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori)
infection and the Hydrogen Breath Test for determining
small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, lactose intolerance
and fructose malabsorption. We process more than 25,000
specimens annually making us the largest breath test
send-out lab in the US.
The Urea Breath Test
(BreathTek™) * is a non-invasive, fast and highly
accurate test to detect Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori)
infection. Importantly, the Urea Breath Test detects
active infection, and in contrast to blood serology
tests, doesn’t produce false positives results
due to previous infection.
The test is ideal for investigation of gut pain in patients
that have previously undergone an endoscopy, screening
bariatric surgery candidates, and to confirm the outcome
of H. pylori eradication therapy.
The Small
Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth, Fructose
Malabsorption, and Lactose Intolerance
Breath Tests offered by Metabolic Solutions are simplified
versions of the well-known hydrogen breath test. What
is new is that our test can be performed in a doctor’s
office or given to the patient to do at their convenience
and in their own homes. It provides a safe, non-invasive
and cost-effective solution to diagnose lactose intolerance
with an emphasis on convenience for the doctor and patient.
